SERVICES

The Honest Broker Office (HBO), a unit of the UMMS Office of Research, supports UMHS faculty in their research endeavors by providing access to electronic health record data sets and aggregate counts for cohort feasibility.

To request data for QI projects, contact the PACE (Performance Assessment & Clinical Effectiveness) team in the Office of Clinical Affairs; Email OCA-PACE-Requests@med.umich.edu, Phone 615-0294.

HOW TO REQUEST DATA SETS FOR RESEARCH

Please complete the online HBO Request Form (requires VPN access outside the network). Select the data elements and define your inclusion criteria in this worksheet which needs to be attached to your request form. (When using the worksheet, enable the macros if prompted. Attach the worksheet to your request using the browse function, not click and drag.) We strongly encourage the study team and especially the Principal Investigator to review the request before submission.

Before you begin you'll need the following mandatory items to complete your request:

    • IRB Approval and HUM Number (except for Aggregate Counts)
    • PI Uniquename and Study Team Members
    • Inclusion Rules with Dates, ICD-9, CPT (Link to code selection tool)
    • Specific Data Elements

Please ensure your request is complete before submitting.

Data Delivery Turn-around time for requests is 3 to 12 weeks from approval of request depending on the complexity of the request.
